Beware Before You Buy a personal emergency response systemIf you are looking to buy a Personal Alert System then please check out the following important points before making a decision. Does the system function using GPS? (These systems were recently exposed on TV as being unreliable, plus "911" will not respond to GPS coordinates). If so DON'T BUY! Does the pendant have just one single red activation button that could be accidentally pressed resulting in an un-wanted Ambulance turning up to your house? If so DON'T BUY! Does the system allow for an extended voice message (minimum of 30 seconds) that can relay important information stating where your key safe lock is located and its code? If not DON'T BUY! Is the system inbuilt with a telephone that is complicated to program and replaces your existing telephone? If so DON'T BUY! Does the Personal Alert System have a pendant that can still operate correctly when completely submersed under water such as in a bath? If not DON'T BUY. Does the pendant look as though you could accidentally lean on the button and set it off? If so DON'T BUY. Does the pendant have a "nurse call" function to attract attention of someone else inside your home? If not DON'T BUY. Does the system require you to talk to be able to get help? (if you are having a stroke this may not be possible) If so DON'T BUY. Does the system have the ability to scare off any would be intruders to your home? If not DON'T BUY. Is the system allowed to link with "911"? If not DON'T BUY. Is the system easy to program? If not DON'T BUY. Is the pendant capable of giving you at least 3 years of battery life without the need to re-charge or replace the batteries? If not DON'T BUY. Does the system come with re-chargeable batteries in case of power failure? (without a re-chargeable system, if the batteries go flat, the unit will fail in the event of losing power) If not DON'T BUY! Does the system have a long term well proven track record?
